Patrol Points update!

After about 12 weeks the patrol points are incredibly close and it will be down to the wire to determine the winning patrol.

6th Place: Scorpions 173 points

5th Place: Vikings 182 points

4th Place: Phantoms 188 points

3rd Place: Beavers 195 points

2nd Place:   Cobras  197 points

1st Place:   Penguins  200 points

As you can see there is only 17 points separating the first place patrol from the last place patrol.  We still need to add the points from Scouting For Food and two more meetings.  But there are some big points still on the table and it is up to the parents to earn them.

The first opportunity is to hand in a Fair Share card.  (See attached)  So far I have the following families: Jaquemets, Hoffman, Plante, Connell, Thiele-Sardina, Bever, Marks, Lane, Bargar, Fichou, Lange-McPherson, Driscoll, Anagnostou, Voreck.    Possible 40 points.

The second opportunity is to hand in a certificate of an online training.  The training must have been taken after 9/1/12 and can be any available at olc.scouting.org.  You can create an account or use an existing account.  Now is a great time to make sure your Youth Protection Training is current, and if it is take the Trek Safely, or Hazardous Weather.  Possible 40 points.

Scouting For Food – Everyone should be participating!

This past weekend we blanketed Menlo Park with flyers. This coming Saturday, November 17th we will be collecting food.  Again by Patrol.  Food must be handed in by 2:00 pm.  There are patrol points and the Patrol that collects the most food (by weight) gets a bonus.

MPPC Holiday Mission Project

MPPC has a ministry partner, City Impact, to help the homeless adults and children of San Francisco.  THe donations will help keep families warm and merry this winter by donating the following for a family.  You can donate all that is listed below or 1 or 2 items.  Anything you can do to help, will be appreciated!!

Things they are looking for include: adult tube socks, beige bath towels, unwrapped toys for 1-9 year olds unwrapped, cash donations.  Please bring your contribution to the next three troop meetings.

Call for Senior Patrol Leader Nominations!

It is time to elect a new Senior Patrol Leader.  It is a 6’ish month term and we are looking for scouts that have been a Patrol Leader to move to the next level of leadership.  You will be expected to attend all Troop meetings and as many outings as possible.  If you think you are ready or want to suggest a candidate please let me know.  The runners up will be the ASPLs.

 Order of the Arrow Elections:

I am currently planning to have OA elections during our December Troop meeting.  You should be present at that meeting if you want to become part of the Order of the Arrow (Scouting’s Honor Society).  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Arrow
