Planet Granite Night – October 17th @ 7:00pm
A request goes out to all the parents that are certified belayers to join us on the 17th at Planet Granite.  The troop will reimburse you for the cost of the class.  Scouts are asked to be in the Troop Green or Red shirts and boy scout shorts.  The cost is $10 and you MUST BRING the signed waiver.  If your parent is not dropping you off you must bring a photocopy of their driver’s license! Belayers please let me know you are coming!
I need an adult to volunteer to coordinate this event.  It should be a rather easy event to coordinate at Boulder Creek Scout Reservation if we follow the same layout that we did last year:  arrive in the afternoon, 3 mile hike, dinner, campfire, sleep, breakfast, head for home.  If I don’t get a volunteer by Friday I will have to cancel this event.
A call for Den Chiefs
You a 1st class scout or greater and looking for a leadership role?  Den Chief is a recognized leadership role and it only requires attending two one hour meetings a month.  You help the Den Leader of a local pack with their den meeting and you help at the pack meeting.  The required training is about an hour and available online.
Contact me if you are interested, I have two dens waiting for Den Chiefs.
Military Vehicle Museum Tour – November 17th @ 1:00pm
After collecting all the food on Nov. 17th we are going to see a private collection of military vehicles. The tour size is limited to 30 participants, youth or adults.  I will have a sign up sheet at the Troop meetings.  The cost will be $15 per person or free for those that spend 3 hours scouting for food!
Summer Camp has been selected!
We are going to Camp Royaneh  from June 23 – 29, 2013.  Please mark your calendars!

Redwood City Planning Commission Meeting:  advise kids who want to do a communications merit badge civic visit that there is a meeting of the Redwood City planning commission on Tuesday 10/16 at 7 pm and there will be a proposal for a large development on the bayfront wetlands eradicating a local marina/harbor. Whatever their position, it is a good opportunity to see something really civic and participatory in action, if they want to attend and write to the council/commission about it
Registration for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) midway registration will be available starting at 9 am on Monday, October 15

Pack 222 Space Derby – Needs Boy Scout helpers:
Some ideas where Scouts could help:
There will be two tracks of four race lines, so maybe two Scouts per track to help with setup and launch.
There likely will be ships in need of repair or adjustment during the event, so maybe one or two Scouts staffing a Ship First Aid &  Repair Booth?
Also,  was thinking it would be a neat opportunity, if possible and if scouts are interested, to bring Scouts to give demos and teach some Scoutcraft to the Cubs
On one hand it would help promote Scouting to the cub families, and on the other I was thinking maybe help Scouts could make progress on relevant merit badges through teaching skills to others?
