Robert Lane is an Eagle Scout – January 29th
Robert Lane became an Eagle Scout on January 29, 2015, at the Palo Alto Boy Scout Service Center in an Eagle Scout Rank Board of Review. We congratulate Robert for reaching this significant milestone of his Scouting journey.
In 2004, Robert started his Scouting adventure as a Bobcat in Pack 222. Progressing through all the Cub Scout ranks, Robert earned his Arrow of Light Award and then joined Troop 222 in 2009. With Troop 222 he earned 24 merit badges. His leadership positions within the Troop include Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Chaplain Aide, Webmaster and Scribe. He attended several summer Scout camps: Camp Oljato, Camp Emerald Bay on Catalina Island, and Camp Chawanakee. He also attended National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).
Robert participated in two Fifty Miler backpack trips with Troop 222: Evolution Valley (2013) and Tahoe Rim Trail Hike (2012). Robert considers the Tahoe Rim trip to be his most memorable Scouting experience as his trail mates and he traversed 50 high terrain miles in 4 days.
In 2014, for Robert’s Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project, 25 volunteers and he built steps and restored an outdoor stage at the East Palo Alto Charter School. Robert is very appreciative of the 202 hours of work that Scouts, school administrators, friends and family spent on the project. Phil Hage and Bob Arntsen were the instrumental advisors on his project.
Robert is a junior at Menlo-Atherton High School where he is a high-performing academic student. He is a passionate member of the varsity lacrosse team and varsity cross country team. Robert also plays trumpet in the school’s jazz band.
We thank Robert’s Eagle Board of Review members, which were Peggy Gluck (Redwood District Eagle Advancement Chair), David You (Redwood District Eagle Advancement Chair), Kristin Fichou and Ken Johnson. Troop 222 Advancement Chair, Duke Evans, coordinated the Board of Review. David Fichou, Troop 222 Scoutmaster, provided the introduction of the candidate.
Robert did a great job in his Eagle Board of Review. The Board was very impressed with him and his thoughtful answers to their questions.
As his Scoutmaster, I was very proud of Mr. Lane and his stellar representation of Troop 222.
Robert is very appreciative of all the Scout adult leaders who have made his Scouting experience so rewarding over the last 11 years. He has been supported by his father, David, mother, Grayson, and sister, Virginia.
Congratulations again, Robert!
