[Troop222All] Congratulations to the latest Troop 222 Eagle Scout Andre Fichou

Andrew Fichou is an Eagle Scout – September 23rd, 2014
Congratulations, Andrew!

Andrew Fichou became an Eagle Scout on Tuesday evening, September 23rd, 2014, at the Palo Alto Boy Scout Service Center in an Eagle Scout Rank Board of Review. We congratulate Andrew for reaching this significant milestone of his Scouting journey on his 15th birthday.

Andrew joined Troop 222 in 2010 after bridging from Pack 565, earning his Arrow of Light and all 21 Webelos Activity Pins. As a Boy Scout he has earned 42 merit badges. His leadership positions within the Troop include serving as Den Chief for Pack 565, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Quartermaster, and Order of the Arrow troop representative working with Scoutmasters Craig Falkenhagen, Tom Carhart, and David Fichou.  He attended NYTL in 2013 and became a member of the Moose Patrol.  He returned to NYLT in 2014 as a member of the Staff.

He has attended every summer camp since he joined the troop including Camp Chawanakee in 2010, Camp Oljato, Camp High Sierra, Camp Royaneh, and Camp Oljato this past summer.  His Boy Scout career includes many backpacking trips, including Philmont Scout Reservations in 2013, Florida Sea Base in 2014 and plans to attend Northern Tier in 2015 to complete the Triple Crown. His first three trips to Philmont were as a Cub Scout and had even hiked to Ponil as a Wolf Scout while his parents spent a week at the Philmont Training Center.

Andrew’ Scout Leadership Service Project was to build an arbor and cubbies for the deck that Myles Robinson built for his Eagle Project.  The beneficiary, Peninsula Oral School for the Deaf, had a need to provide more shade and storage in the play area for the children.  The arbor covered the existing deck and utilized the posts that Myles installed.  In addition to the arbor Andrew and crew built cubbies to hold 15 milk crates and a counter for the children to play and store their toys.  Andrew was even able to visit the school and see how his project has impacted the kids.  He worked with Rod Hall as his Eagle Project Advisor for the project.

Andrew is a sophomore at Menlo Atherton High School and plays the Tuba in the Menlo-Atherton Concert Band.  He has also started his second season on the JV Water Polo team.

We thank Duke Evans (Troop 222 Advancement Chair) for coordinating Andrew s Board of Review and also thank the members of the Board, which included Peggy Gluck (Redwood District Eagle Advancement Chair), David You (Redwood District Eagle Advisor), Ken Johnson, and Doug Andreae. David Fichou (Troop 222 Scoutmaster) provided the introduction for the candidate and was asked to leave.  I was informed by Peggy & David that Andrew did a great job during his board of review.  The board was very impressed with him and his thoughtful answers to their questions. As his scoutmaster, I was very proud of Mr. Dillon and his stellar representation of Troop 222.

Andrew has been supported by his family, David, Kristin, and Katelynn Fichou.

Congratulations again, Andrew!
