[Troop222All] Congratulations to the latest Troop 222 Eagle Scout Wesley Fischer

Wesley Fischer is an Eagle Scout – October 20th, 2014
Congratulations, Wes!
Wesley Fischer became an Eagle Scout on Monday evening, October 20th, 2014, at the Palo Alto Boy Scout Service Center in an Eagle Scout Rank Board of Review. We congratulate Wes for reaching this significant milestone of his Scouting journey.

Wesley joined Troop 222 in 2008. He has earned 31 merit badges. His leadership positions within the Troop include Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, and Flames Instructor. He attended many years of summer scout camp including two years of Camp Oljato, and 1 each at High Sierra, Chawanakee, and Royaneh.
He has participated in two Fifty Miler backpack trips with Troop 222, including the famous “close encounters of the Bear kind” trip to Yosemite in 2010. He went to Philmont in 2013 and was known as the “Burro Whisperer” and “Navi-Guesser”. He considers the outdoor adventure to be the best part of Scouting.
Wesley’s Scout Leadership Service Project was to build two platform steps for children with mobility challenges so they can mount horses at BOK ranch in Woodside.  He and his volunteers – including scouts, parents of scouts and high school friends – logged 136 hours of service. He is grateful to Phil Hage of Troop 222 and Mark Leeper from Menlo-Atherton High School who advised him on his project .

Wesley is a senior at Menlo-Atherton High School and like many recent Troop 222 Eagle Scouts, he is active in the music program participating in the Advanced Jazz Band. He is also very involved with the Robotics team and plays Varsity Lacrosse. He is currently busy with college applications and is planning to study Aeronautical Engineering in college.
We thank Duke Evans (Troop 222 Advancement Chair) for coordinating Wes’s Board of Review, and we also thank the members of the Board, which included Peggy Gluck (Redwood District Eagle Advancement Chair), David You (Redwood District Eagle Advancement Chair, and Duke Evans. David Fichou (Troop 222 Scoutmaster) provided the introduction for the candidate. Wes did a great job on this step in his journey to Eagle Scout. The board was very impressed with him and his thoughtful answers to their questions. As his scoutmaster, I was very proud of Wesley Fischer and his stellar representation of Troop 222.

Wesley has been supported by his mother, Sue Bartalo, his father, Dave Fischer, and his siblings, Bradley and Erica.

Congratulations again, Wes!
