[Troop222All] Scoutmaster Updates: September 2, 2013 – First Troop meeting is Friday Sept. 6th – NEED RSVPs.

First Troop Meeting: – Please RSVP – Please be on Time since several scouts need to leave at 6:45 for MA Pep Band
We are having a pot-luck campfire gathering on Friday, September 6th starting at 6:00.  This will be our first official meeting for the year.  Please use this Google Document to RSVP to the event.  The whole family is invited and encouraged to attend
Court of Honor:
Our first Court of Honor (where we hand out earned Merit Badges, ranks, and awards) is scheduled for September 11th, 2013.  We are in Garden Court and the activities begin promptly at 7:30.  This is an event for parents to attend.
Trail to First Class:
This year we will be holding special meeting for those scouts that want to work on their Tenderfoot, Second Class, or First Class requirements.  These meetings are completely optional, but are a great way to learn the skills needed for advancement.  
9/25, 10/30, 11/8-10(campout) 11/20, 12/18, 1/29, 2/26, 3/26, 4/23, 5/28.  The locations will vary to keep an eye out for the Scoutmaster Updates.
Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops
November 10th.  This is a leadership training class for scouts.  This class will give the scouts some tools to be better leaders in the troop and in life.  Any scout with 2nd class or higher is encouraged to attend this class.  Lunch will be provided.  You MUST RSVP with Scoutmaster Fichou.

Mountain Man Rendezvous – Fri-Sun, Oct 18-20
Step back in time to see what it was like when pioneers roamed the frontier. The Rendezvous is for Boy Scouts and 2nd year Webelos hosted by a troop. Featured Programs: Scouts will learn frontier mountain man skills and do authentic rendezvous activities including: Archery, Gold Panning, Black Powder Rifle Shooting, Knife and Tomahawk Throwing, Rope Making, Candle Making, using Flint and Steel, Dutch Oven Cooking, Display Rifles, Making Bullets, Silkscreening (bring a blank T-shirt), and other events yet to be determined. Scouts also get to see how early pioneers lived by seeing an authentic reproduction of a mountain man encampment. Click here for more. 

Trail to First Class – Fri-Sun, Nov 8-10 
Troops are encouraged to send patrols and host stations at Cutter Scout Reservation to help younger Scouts progress in their advancement. Click here for more information.  

Den Chief Training – Sat, Sep 28
This course is for Boy Scouts wishing to become den chiefs. We will identify den chief responsibilities and tasks, and describe the den chief’s relationship to the adult den leaders and how that relates to the den chief’s activities with the den. Details coming here

Range Safety Officer Training – Sat, Sep 7 
This course is designed to give the students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to run a range safely. Skills learned include RSO roles and responsibility, range standard operating procedures (SOP), range inspection, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, range briefings which include emergency procedures.
