Troop 222 families,
First of all I want to thank all the parents that contributed to the scoutmaster selection process from the “first fifteen minutes” meeting to the final selection committee. I especially want to recognize John Bargar and Moises Sabio for being the required driving force.
We were blessed to have had three qualified candidates step forward to be the next scoutmaster. The committee interviewed the candidates for the role of scoutmaster and after much deliberation one person emerged as the clear choice for scoutmaster. That person has been involved with scouting as an adult leader for over 12 years. He has been on at least 10 backpacking trips with the troop covering most of the John Muir trail. His oldest son is an Eagle Scout now attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, while his youngest scout will soon become a Star scout. It is with great pleasure that I introduce Troop 222’s next scoutmaster, Jay Hansen.
As we begin the transition to a new scoutmaster it is critical that the entire Troop 222 family continue to show their support. Many have expressed a willingness to increase their contribution to troop activities and it is critical to our success that we have many hands involved in the scouting program. The official handover should occur in June and I will continue to be involved in the troop in a supporting role.
Yours in Scouting,
