Scouting happens well beyond our weekly meetings. Throughout the year, Troop 222 gets outside to camp, hike, backpack, bike, ski, kayak, serve our community, learn new skills, and have a lot of fun together.
Some adventures are close to home. Others take us deep into the backcountry for days at a time. Along the way, Scouts learn to plan, problem solve, lead one another, and become more confident outdoors.
Here’s a taste of where Troop 222 has taken us:
Yosemite Camping – Camping, day hikes, swimming, exploring, and some spectacular scenery.
Local & Regional Hiking – From nearby trails to full days exploring forests, mountains, and the coast.
Trail to First Class Overnight – Camping at Boulder Creek while building the outdoor skills Scouts need to advance.
Angel Island – A true Bay Area adventure involving Caltrain, a ferry, backpacks, hiking, camping, and exploring the island.
Outdoor Skills – Orienteering, navigation, fire building, outdoor cooking, first aid, and plenty of hands-on practice.
Ski Trip to Palisades – Who doesn’t like a weekend on the mountain?
Kayaking at Elkhorn Slough – Exploring one of California’s incredible coastal ecosystems from the water.
Mountain biking and camping at Coyote Lake – Bikes, trails, camping, and a weekend outside.
High Adventures & Summer Camp
In addition to day and overnight outdoor activities throughout the year, Troop 222 attends a weeklong Summer camp at scout camps in California, and selects one of the four BSA High Adventure Camps to attend each Summer:
Philmont Scout Ranch (New Mexico 2013, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2025)
Northern Tier (Minnesota/Canada 2015, 2021, 2024)
Sea Base (Florida 2014, 2023)
